Terms of attaining breeding licence for Shorthaired Hungarian Vizslas

General provisions:

Each vizsla, that has:
• registration in an F.C.I.-recognized studbook
• full lineage of ancestors shown in its pedigree
• permanent and falsification-proof personal identification that can be easily
checked
• passed the age of 18 months

attains breeding license after completing the hereinafter named criteria due to its gender.

Criteria for males:
• The dog should compete
• the 'Conformation test' (in Hungarian: tenyészszemle, "TSZ") getting 'suitable breeding'
"Tenyészthetö" or 'recommended for breeding' "Tenyésztésre javasolt" record.
• the Basic Hunting Test (in Hungarian Alapvizsga, A V) getting „Completed"
"Megfelelt" or "Completed to merit" „Kivalóan megfelelt" record.
• The Hip Scoring is highly advisable but not obligatory till the year of 2011.

Criteria for females:
• The female should be younger than 8 years old on the day of mating.
• The female should compete
• the 'Conformation test' (in Hungarian: tenyészszemle, "TSZ") getting 'suit breeding'
"Tenyészthetö" or 'recommended for breeding' "Tenyésztésre javasolt" record
• the Basic Hunting Test (in Hungarian Alapvizsga A V) getting „Completed" "Megfelelt" or "Completed to merit" „Kivalóan megfelelt" record.
• The Hip Scoring is highly advisable but not obligatory till the year of 2011.


The dog should complete the Conformation Test and the Basic Hunting Test at an event organized by the Vizsla Club of Hungary. In case the test is organized by other FCI recognized organization it must be carried out due to the operative FCI and MEOE (HKC) regulations with contribution of FCI-recognized judges.

For males, the breeder may make an application for occasional preliminary breeding licence for a male that is younger than 18 m-o, on the understanding that the male has completed the TSZ and the AV yet. The breeder should ask for the permission earlier than the date of siring.

For females, in a two-year time a female may whelp two litters as maximum meanwhile after two consequent litters of a female its next season must be left missed.

The above described regulations are due to the dogs born lather than 2006-12-31 however dogs born before 2006-12-31 must complete the TSZ (Conformation test.)

In case of using a sire living and registered abroad or importing sperm, the sire should complete the terms of breeding of the FCI recognized organization that registered it.

In case of a sire imported to Hungary the sire should attain the Hungarian breeding licence regardless of the results and records attained in the country of origin.

These rules were accepted by the General Assembly of the Magyar Vizsla Klub on 2007-02-25 and by the Presidency of the Hungarian Kennel Club in its Resolution Nr. 42/08. (06.26.).
